A community of Malaysians
living in Kaohsiung

The Kaohsiung Malaysian Association brings together Malaysians living in southern Taiwan. Some of us came here to work, some to raise a family, and some are now retired. Some of us still hold Malaysian passports; others have become Taiwanese citizens.

Since 2016, we have been getting together for festivals and meals. Ten years later, in 2026, we made our friendship official by founding the Kaohsiung Malaysian Association.

2016

The first dinner

A few Malaysian friends in Kaohsiung met up at a restaurant for a taste of home.
2017–2025

Year after year

Chinese New Year, Merdeka Day and home-style meals, with more people every year.

42 founders

We applied to the Social Affairs Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government to register the association, and held two preparatory meetings.
2026.11.08

Founding assembly

The association was officially founded at the Kaohsiung New Immigrants Hall (高雄市新住民會館).
